Live Fast and Prosper
comments? pforooghi@compusmart.ab.ca After weeks of reruns, I was really looking forward to a new episode of my favorite show. Unfortunately, I was a tad disappointed by the fluff piece that was "Live Fast and Prosper". It turned out to be a rather frivolous outing. Then again, I have come to not expect much from Voyager this season, given the plethora of mediocre episodes. This one was no exception. So, as you may be able to guess, I really don’t have all that much to say about this show. However, I will leave you with a few comments, as insignificant as they may be. The guest star who portrayed the Janeway impostor was a very familiar face to me. She used to be on the now defunct soap opera "Another World" (Okay, I confess, I’m a soapaholic! I hope you all don’t think any less of me now that my secret is out. Provided you thought much of me to begin with! LOL). What is it with Voyager and Another World alums this year? First with "Ashes to Ashes", and now with this episode. Not that I’m all that surprised, mind you. The cast of Another World were a very talented bunch, and I was fond of most of their actors, including tonight’s guest star. Also, I found the Tuvok impostor rather interesting. I think that by the end, he had truly bought into his own lies. He managed to convince himself that he really was a Starfleet officer, really was Tuvok. Which made him a little more sympathetic than the Janeway impostor. She was very manipulative and conniving. Not one redeeming quality that I could see. A rather despicable individual. Finally, since I thought the episode was rather trivial, I will end my review with an equally banal comment. I believe the highlight of this show was seeing Janeway in her robe. She was a lovely vision! This should give you an indication of how enthralled I was by the other goings on in this episode. (note the sarcasm, please!) In the final analysis, since I was so unimpressed and at times bored with "Live Fast and Prosper", I can only bestow upon it one lowly comm badge. Here’s hoping for a more interesting and discussion-provoking show next week. Cheers! |
