Random and Irrelevant
Thoughts
By Captain Starbuck

Sometime ago, in the not too distant past, I came across an
article on the web about the Borg. This article was pre-Seven of Nine and
pre-First Contact as it presumed that all Borg were male. In went into
quite a bit of detail (and yes, I'll spare you the graphic details that were
forever etched into my mind) about the Borg and their "same sex"
relationships.
This little article got my mind a wanderin'...
Understand, my mind can be a bit warped, as many readers
and email chums can attest. Anyway, I thought - what if TPTB had made
Seven of Nine a Male Borg instead of the beautiful and bodacious Borg we have
now on Voyager? Do you think that a Borg Boy Toy would have more or less trouble
adapting to Voyager? I think the Voyager crew, even with all their
hostility, adjusted far better with Seven than they would have
with a male Borg. Call it sexist, but I believe the perception is that a
female Borg is far less threatening to all concerned (TPTB and crew) than a Mr. Borg. I also
wonder if Mr. Borg would be dressed in a tight little plum colored cat suit with
all his 'enhancements' visible? (not that that's anything *I'd* want to
see).
Now, let's take it one step further. Would they have had the desperate and
frustrated Janeway in the sack with said Borg Boy Toy? Would a *male* Borg
make it palatable to the TPTB? Or ultimate irony, what if Mr. Borg is more
interested in young Harry Kim, or even Chakotay?
Suffice it to say, Voyager for all its faults (lack of subtext as of late),
would be a far, far different show with a Borg Boy Toy than a Borg Babe.
